ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025: Squad, Schedule and More

By S Panda, August 19, 2025, The Indian team is all set to begin their ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 campaign against Sri Lanka on September 30. The 15-member squad has just been announced and things are taking quite a bit of surprising turn.

Harmanpreet Kaur has been named as the captain of the team. It is also going to be her maiden One Day International (ODI) as the captain. Smriti Mandhana has been chosen as the deputy. It is quite an intriguing squad.

Renuka Singh Thakur is set to spearhead the pace attack. There are a couple of fresh faces, such as Kranti Gaud and Sree Charani. The selectors definitely appear to be impressed by their performances in the recent series in England.

Shafali Verma, on the other hand, is missing out. The right-hander has not been on the radar for quite some time. Her recent performances possibly did not impress the selectors enough to add her to the team squad.
